I have the upcomming group brew, Jan. 8th, There is plenty of room to brew inside my garage, so feel free to bring your equipment and brew!

Happy new year everyone! Our first monthly COHO Meeting is going to be held at the White House behind Les Schwab Amphitheatre on January 19th. There is alot to cover for the new year, also if I could get as many Fish to come down as possible, we will be issuing membership cards and going over club benefits. The Heart of the Valley Homebrewers are the host of the Annual Oregon Homebrew Festival, the longest running event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. The event is held in May, most recently at Calapooia Brewing in Albany, OR. It has been held at the Benton County Fairgrounds in the past. The main focus of the event is the judging homebrewed beer. The competition is sanctioned by the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) and the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP), using BJCP Style Guidelines. This year the Oregon Homebrew Festival will be on May 21. Thanks to the Oregon Legislature on passage of SB444, which allows homebrew and wine competitions once again. Our festival will feature a huge raffle and homebrew information, ending with an awards ceremony recognizing all the winners of the homebrew competition. More information coming soon!.

Hop Madras is Saturday, August 6 at 10:00am - August 7 at 1:00pm at Jim Spencers Hop Farm just north of Madras there will be a sign of sorts, I'm sure you won't have troubles finding it! But I will see if I can get Jim to post a Physical address ;). There will be Brewing, games, hop giveaway, BBQ, homebrew and probably a campfire as everyone is encouraged to stay or have a designated driver. Please bring what makes you comfortable, maybe some homebrew or a side dish, both Camping and Brewing are encouraged!
Same thing September 3 & 4th in Independence Oregon at Rogue Hop Farm is Hop Madness they have a website at www.hopmadnessfest.com/?m=201106 this too is one of the great events of the year, you don't want to miss out!
The Bourbon Barrel Stout is kegged and carbonating, no signs of infection, great clarity, very vanilla forward bourbon flavor, was 7.8% going into the barrel probably closer to 8.5% ABV with as much cask strength bourbon was in the barrel when we filled it! Look for this on tap at many of our up coming events including Hop Madras, Hop Madness and the infamous X-Mas Party!
Also spots are filling up for Bend Brewfest volunteers for COHO, just to be clear COHO brewfest volunteers are given a shirt that says "Ask Me About Beer" Cup and Tokens, we are then encouraged to have a few samples and mingle with the patrons, when someone asks you about beer feel free to "Geek-out on them" use all your big beer terminology and get them wanting to know more! Half the positions are filled the other half are first come first serve on a daily basis!
Be sure to look out for James Adams Collaboration brew with Silvermoon, COHO and served as the official beer of Bend Brewfest Welcome.... Oregon Export Lager! The first of hopefully many collaboration brews to come!
