July Meeting Wrap-up
Meeting wrap-up: 7/15/09
Group Picture: A big thanks to Dylan for setting this up.
Business:
Policy Concerning Monthly and yearly reporting/ planning: Bill will give a monthly COHO balance and a yearly financial report (TBA) for planning and spending purposes. The hope is that we can use funds as efficiently as possible,
Deschutes County Fair: We can't sponsor a blue ribbon this year but will be sponsoring a ribbon next year.
Shirts: The club expressed some interest in getting different colo shirts and getting another quote, thanks to Sheryl for looking into this
Sensory analysis: Tim K. is discussing a sensory analysis seminar with the Deschutes SA director. A schedule (TBA)
Club System Design Committee: The committee is going to start discussion/ work on this important project after Labor Day. The boil kettle to be raffled off is under construction thanks to the efforts of Evan and Brett.
Up coming competitions: Crook County fair, and Madras home brew competitions are coming up. I don't currently have the entry dead lines to those events. If you have those dates please post them to the club calendar. We could use more members to help the rest of the club keep on top of entry dates and competitions information- so check out the web site and post something if you know of it..
Events
Past
AHA Rally: This rally helped put COHO on the national scene. A huge thanks to those who were able to make it and represent COHO. Highlights: well organized the event, educational seminars, discussing beer with industry leaders, and sampling a tremendous selection of professional and home brewed beer, and the banquet dinner. I can't wait until this event comes back to our area.
Future
August Group Brew (Maui Jim) August 1 & 2, See the WIKI for details
HopMadness (9/12 & 13 @ Willamette State Mission Park). Start your brews for this one soon.
Little Woody Barrel aged competition (9/12) Brett has offered to brew a beer for this competition, and Tom K. and Jerry O. have tentatively offered to pour our beer at this event, thanks guys
SMASH Comp. The club enthusiastically endorsed a COHO SMASH competition. We plan on hosting this event in conjunction with our November Pub Crawl. Probably a good way to start the day off.
Food Committee: I neglected to ask for volunteers for food in August. Email me if you're interested
Raffle/ Food: For those of you who didn't make the meeting or had to leave early the food was great, thanks again Tom and Sheryl. Oh the raffle, what prizes, we had some once in a life time, one off beers, Thanks to everyone for your support, PS we had another new guy winner, Welcome to the club Remco.
Finally- Remember we didn't have a group, brew this month, so bring your home brew to the August meeting. This is a formal request for your non prize winners, so we can all learn to ID some iffy flavors.
Have a great couple of weeks and I'll see you at Jim's or the brew shop
Cheers
Brian
